Milwaukee | Behind the scenes
Milwaukee Tools had done many photo shoots like this, but this was one of the first with us. The brief had its limitations due to the location, space and time frame we had, which meant we really had to work hard to ensure it was planned meticulously.
We had assigned a Director, Photographer and Videographer to this job based on the brief. The Photographer would need to working through the briefed shots efficiently, whilst the Director could manage the scene, client, location and the schedule for the day. It was always going to be tough, but one we were confident in delivering.
Our solution for this photo shoot being delivered brilliantly was all in the pre-production and planning. The recce also played a big part in how the project would go. We realised the original area suggested for the shoot wouldn’t have enough depth to get the desired shots.
With that, we worked with the people on site to organise a different wall to set the tools up on. This decision was crucial for us being able to get the shots in the brief.
Working with the client we all supported the build and set up of the wall. Without that, there wouldn’t have been enough time to shoot what we needed.
The clients view before leaving the recce was that we wouldn’t be able to get what he had in mind. We were still confident.
The outcome of the photo shoot surprised Milwaukee Tools. You can see the photos here. Both with the standard of the photos and with the behind the scenes video. We worked our socks off on arrival of shoot day to work through what was in the brief. The client was able to approve shots and a colour grade live, through a tethered set up to a laptop from the camera. This was a huge benefit on the day.
The day was difficult in terms of planning due to the high security elements of the location. So much so, I wasn’t expecting too much from the final images. Partly because we had to wrap earlier than we wanted. However, the photos we got surpassed my expectation. I really like what we received and was produced. I was really impressed with the range shots so I was able to used them within my presentation. The behind the scenes video is a brilliant add on and is very useful for our social media.
