Purity Brewing | Sustainability Film
Brief
For this sustainability film with Purity Brewing, we actually came to them with the idea. It doesn’t always happen for obvious reasons, but our pitch to them was good timing and a story they wanted to tell.
With their unique culture and eco system at their location in Alcester, Stratford-Upon-Avon is definitely the type of brand we were striving to be associated with.
Our brief wasn’t complicated, it didn’t need to be. We were looking to share their story that they already do day in, day out. Their eco and wetlands system is unique and something they brought to the industry before it was popularised.
Showcasing this in an up to date film would be great for them for many reasons. Pitching to prospects, marketing, website and updated content. They went with it, and we produced this…

Our
solution
Purity Brewing live and breathe sustainability. We needed to get them talking about what they do, how they do it and why it’s important for them. The questions and planning were directing the narrative, so our approach had to be succinct and provide them the right space to flourish on those topics.
Capturing the interviews with two cameras where space allowed, and one in the brewery was great and provided variety to flow throughout the narrative. Each had their own identity in the frame, because each subject had their own story and perspective to tell.
Sustainability films shouldn’t be an after thought, so we had planned for drone footage, close ups of the process and interviews with style to ensure this was front and centre as a piece of content they were proud to use.
We broke the day up into 3 sections. Interviews, drone and B roll. Ideally they would have commissioned photography too, but on another day we hope to do this.
We knew the editorial from our pre-production so all of the shots we were gathering already had their place in the sustainability film.

Outcome
We knew this film wasn’t a piece of throw away content limited by time. It was going to be the length it needed to be. 3 minutes was a focus, but we weren’t going to sacrifice good content for the sake of total length.
Ultimately, our angle was that a sustainability film is one worth watching. What you are saying is worth saying, and something your industry, partners and prospects need to hear.
As mentioned, the planned shots all had their place. The narrative and story was organised. We decided to break up each interview and place them based on the topics they were discussing. It allowed for great variety of perspectives, but on the same sections. We think this flowed really well.
Every B roll shot added style and substance to the message. The farm Purity Brewing are based at is fantastic so there was so much to show.
It’s finished as a sustainability film we are all proud of.
