Designmc | Chatting with The Founder

Brief

Working with Designmc is great because we really get to combine creative passions and ideas – This is how Chatting with The Founder was born. After Matt saw a video we produced, he came to us asking for his own version to support his brand, vision and identity to his customers. We had the perfect location ready, all we needed to do was implement this vision by providing the correct lighting, angles, editing and style to it and thus creating a short documentary for Chatting with The Founder.

Our
solution

We have a location that we use regularly that was perfect for Designmc’s brief. As soon as we took him there for the recce he could see how it could fit together and work. Matt has an unbelievable eye for detail so was able to bring artwork and elements to be used in the background of the shoot. We concentrated on the lighting, as this was going to be a key aspect to get the darkened look he had specified. Using two cameras to capture this interview in a simple, but stylish way was an ideal set up. We used a third camera for cutaways and b roll to supplement the interview footage.

Outcome

The outcome of Chatting with The Founder was gorgeous. If we do say so ourselves. The look Designmc had in mind was met. Editorially it all worked. Matt specified key points where he wanted the visual look to be black and white, which we did. It gives a lovely variation to such a simple interview set up. The content of the interview is natural, interesting and shares more about Matt and Designmc. We provided the full interview as you can see, but also provided 5 short clips in addition – one of which was a Bloopers as an additional extra. After all, we had plenty to choose from…

Our agency had an idea of doing an interview style video that was focused on our Founder. We had a clear vision of what we wanted to achieve and the team at YouNeek Productions really fine tuned and expanded on our thoughts. This was a very personal project for our business owner, so we needed to work with a production team that we felt comfortable with and who we believed would deliver the quality we were looking for – and that is precisely what the YouNeek team did.
